Obituary Page: A Eulogy to THQ Inc.

Still prefer THQ’s old Logo

In 2007, THQ reported it’s highest revenues ever. At over $1 Billion dollars, THQ now was on the same plane as mega-publishers like Activision Blizzard and EA, but it was not to last. Over the next couple of years THQ was hit hard financially. THQ’s financial woes will turn the company’s inevitable demise into one the highest-profile game company closures of our generation. I decided to give my tribute to THQ by saying my favorite THQ games. Continue reading

Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Sou Desu yo? Episode 1 – Initial Thoughts and Analysis

‘Sup everyone, I’m JesseRoo. A few of the other guys made blogs specifically to introduce themselves, but I figured I could just slap my introduction in front of the first blog I write. So that’s that.

Although I probably won’t be able to attain the same level of quality as TehVict’s Sasami-san@Ganbaranai analysis, I still felt like doing an analysis of at least one series this season. Unfortunately because I procrastinated too long my choice was rather limited if I wanted to start from the first episode. Luckily, though, one of the series which I was most interested in this season happened to start yesterday (relative to when this blog post will go up on the site). That series is none other than Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Sou Desu yo?,  or Problem Children Are Coming From Another World, Aren’t They?. For my sanity’s sake, I’ll be referring to it as simply Problem Children from now on.

Potential spoilers for the first episode after the break, so you might want to watch that first.

Vividred Operation Episode 1 – Initial Thoughts & Analysis

Once upon a time, there was an anime in 2008 that was called Strike Witches. The story took place in an alternate retelling of World War II, where instead of the struggles between the Allied and Axis Powers, it was about a military organization of young girls with magical abilities must fight an alien invasion from destroying Earth. The main selling point of this anime? None of the girls wear pants at all throughout the series. Strike Witches was a smash hit in Japan and received a second season and even a full-feature theatrical film. Now, director Kazuhiro Takamura made a new anime that bear similarities to Strike Witches, and that is Vividred Operation.

Spoiler Alert – After the break, I will be talking about the entire episode. I recommend you should watch the episode first if you do not want to be spoiled.

Let’s get this show on the road.

Sasami-san@Ganbaranai Episode 1 – Initial Thoughts & Analysis

“You’re such a baby.”

At first glance, Shaft’s new anime seems like your average show about a hikikomori girl that stalks her clueless older brother, who’s always holding a briefcase or similar object to conceal his face, and is completely infatuated with her to the point of doing her every chore – the stalking feat of course, being done from the comfort of her computer where she can creepily watch him from every angle in high definition as he goes about his day as a teacher with a perverted coworker who looks 9 but is 31, her childish sister who looks 31 but is 9, and the middle  one who’s always sleeping.  Oh wait, that’s hardly average at all… whatever – point is: it gets even better, and way crazier.

Retiring the Hats that Started It All

If you are a huge fan of Valve’s Team Fortress 2 as much as I am, you must of heard about the news of the game will retiring 9 of the original hats that started the whole Hat Simulator fiasco. In two weeks from now, the game will remove Batter’s Helmet, Football Helmet, Fancy Fedora, Mining Light, Prussian Pickelhaube, Pyro’s Beanie, Soldier’s Stash, Trophy Belt, and Demoman’s Fro from the Mann Co. Store, random drops, and crafting.

You will be missed, great hats.

Pokémon Y = aX + b

As someone who hasn’t kept up with gaming news as of late, it was quite the surprise to me when my friend and fellow Quixotic Syndicate writer, James Frontier, messaged me saying:

I’m actually quite excited for the new Pokémon.

What new Pokémon? Was it PokéPark 3? Pokémon Snap U? A new spin-off that’s interesting for once? More Mystery Dungeon games? I decided to ask him and he replies:

Pokémon X and Y.

Pokémon X & Y?

Welp, he seems to think I’m an idiot – if you’re going to try to fool me, at least come up with a name that’s more believable. Literally almost anything would fit that category: Sweet & Sour, Xenon & Krypton, Fruit & Vegetable. Anything.

Greetings, everyone

Hello, I am RedFire Mario, one of the authors of this blog. My hobbies include playing video games, a moviegoer, and watching anime from time to time. As author, I will most likely will be typing out reviews on what I have played or watched and may also cover on some news that are going on in the video game industry. My first real post will be coming soon, so take care.

Shout out to Aldo for making this picture for me

Well TheN.

Hello there, I am N.
You may be wondering, “Well, who is N?”
Here’s your answer:
N is N.

Anyways, I’ll save more of my introduction for later. For now, I just thought I would point out that we are SO desperate for Likes on Facebook, that the main admin, TehVict has broken through logic and liked our page twice.

Well played, well played.

The “Beginning” of the Quixotic Syndicate

You, sailor of the interwebz, appear to have stumbled upon the roots of this plant of justice, or something chuunibyou-esque like that. I’m no good at introducing things, it seems, however I find it essential to have something marking the start of a project such as this – but is this even the beginning at all?

“First comes thought; then organization of that thought, into ideas and plans; then transformation of those plans into reality. The beginning, as you will observe, is in your imagination.” ~Napoleon Hill

It took awhile for this idea to bloom, and even longer for it to become the project of a group of six. We fought for what must have been at the bare minimum three hours on what the name for this blog was going to be before settling for the Quixotic Syndicate. The blog set-up, and it took even longer for a post to get made. To say this is truly the beginning of our “adventure” would be definitely a lie. Hopefully though, in the future it’ll be so far back into the past that such technicalities become irrelevant.

Eh, it was always irrelevant – I just wanted to look up an intellectual quote online and write something surrounding it to sound smarter. Let’s get onto what matters, shall we!
