Cut What You Will

Cut What You Will

Before it became the game that is today, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance had quite a strenuous development process. The game was officially announced at Microsoft’s E3 2009 conference under the title Metal Gear Solid: Rising, with Kojima Productions being the developer of the game. Due to the struggle in designing a fast-pace hack and slash with a unique cutting mechanic merged with the familiar Metal Gear Solid stealth gameplay, Kojima Productions cancelled the game in 2010. In 2011, it was announced at Spike’s Video Game Awards that the project was alive again under a new development team, Platinum Games, who is well known for titles such as Bayonetta and Vanquish. The game released last year on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, so how does Rising hold up one year later on PC? Continue reading

Dragged into Limbo – Opinion on DmC: Devil May Cry

Face Your Demons

Announced back in 2010 during the Tokyo Game Show (for those who do not know, it is a video game convention that is basically Japan’s E3 or Gamescom), Capcom surprised many about a fifth Devil May Cry game was in production. Not only that, but it was a reboot being developed by Ninja Theory, known for Enslaved: Odyssey to the West and the PlayStation 3 exclusive Heavenly Sword. The fans erupted into madness after discovering how Dante was given a completely different design and origin. Capcom and Ninja Theory tried to calm down the chaos by revealing more of the gameplay and behind-the-scene footage, showing how it is similar to the old series as well as trying to give it a new fresh start.

This article will NOT address any spoilers in the game, so any of you who haven’t played the game yet will not have to worry about being spoiled.

Obituary Page: A Eulogy to THQ Inc.

Still prefer THQ’s old Logo

In 2007, THQ reported it’s highest revenues ever. At over $1 Billion dollars, THQ now was on the same plane as mega-publishers like Activision Blizzard and EA, but it was not to last. Over the next couple of years THQ was hit hard financially. THQ’s financial woes will turn the company’s inevitable demise into one the highest-profile game company closures of our generation. I decided to give my tribute to THQ by saying my favorite THQ games. Continue reading

Retiring the Hats that Started It All

If you are a huge fan of Valve’s Team Fortress 2 as much as I am, you must of heard about the news of the game will retiring 9 of the original hats that started the whole Hat Simulator fiasco. In two weeks from now, the game will remove Batter’s Helmet, Football Helmet, Fancy Fedora, Mining Light, Prussian Pickelhaube, Pyro’s Beanie, Soldier’s Stash, Trophy Belt, and Demoman’s Fro from the Mann Co. Store, random drops, and crafting.

You will be missed, great hats.

Pokémon Y = aX + b

As someone who hasn’t kept up with gaming news as of late, it was quite the surprise to me when my friend and fellow Quixotic Syndicate writer, James Frontier, messaged me saying:

I’m actually quite excited for the new Pokémon.

What new Pokémon? Was it PokéPark 3? Pokémon Snap U? A new spin-off that’s interesting for once? More Mystery Dungeon games? I decided to ask him and he replies:

Pokémon X and Y.

Pokémon X & Y?

Welp, he seems to think I’m an idiot – if you’re going to try to fool me, at least come up with a name that’s more believable. Literally almost anything would fit that category: Sweet & Sour, Xenon & Krypton, Fruit & Vegetable. Anything.
